With the Wind

Decades of prevailing westerly winds have bent this oak into a permanent lean. A living record of every storm it has survived. The tree no longer grows upward. It grows sideways, stubbornly, as if the wind itself has become part of its anatomy. I find this kind of persistence extraordinary.
