The North Holland Dune Reserve holds some of the most extraordinary trees I have ever encountered. This crippled oak stands alone, scarred by decades of Atlantic wind, salt air and the relentless pressure of the dunes. Defiant. Magnificent. Entirely itself it becomes something between a sculpture and a living being.
