Wharariki Pohutukawas 01 is part of the Wharariki open edition.

Gnarled, wind-shaped Pohutukawa trees at one of New Zealand's most remote corners. 

Decades of relentless wind off the Tasman Sea have bowed these trees low, sculpting their canopies into what look like frozen sails. 

This group of Pohutukawas is clinging to a hill at the south end of Wharariki Beach. Shot on a clear and still night in February 2026.
